Port Perry Tennis Club was established in 1969. Play originally started in the parking lot of the high school and soon in the 1970’s the town built courts on the existing location on Water Street. In this 50th season we will be having a number of events and celebration to recognize the great years of tennis played by the lake!
The town owns the property and the club maintains the courts. As a result there is both free public access, as well as times dedicated to club play and activities. Times are posted on the courts and here on our website.
We are a volunteer organization that elects an executive every year to organize the leagues, lessons, special events and hires an instructor to teach and run activities. We are members of the Ontario Tennis Association which links us to OTA news, resources, special events and provides us with insurance.
Colin Hooper is our OTA Level 1 Pro and lead instructor who teaches all the lessons, clinics and schedules evening league play for the club. He keeps in touch directly with everyone regarding the programs they are registered in.
Membership fees cover the cost of instructor fees, balls, tournaments, club events, court maintenance, and include participation in the year end dinner and celebration.
Our courts are located next to Lake Scugog across from 76 Water Street, just north of Highway 7A.
